Saint du jour

Know whose name day it is, without opening a calendar.

Available v1.0.3

Nominis, the service of the Catholic Church in France, publishes the saint celebrated each day and the first names attached to it, pet forms included. You list the ones that matter to you, and a card fires on the day itself, another the evening before at an hour you choose. Three special cases are handled rather than ignored: 29 February has no principal saint and the app says so, All Saints' Day celebrates every name at once, and a pet form counts as much as the name it comes from.

Dashboards

A widget is a tile you place on a Homey Dashboard: it shows its information without your having to open anything.

Saint of the day

Saint of the day 215 px tall

The saint of the day in large type with its note, the names celebrated below, and at the foot those of your watched names that are, plus tomorrow's saint. On All Saints' Day the list gives way to the fact that everyone is celebrated.

Flow cards

Homey writes an automation in three parts: when something happens, and if a condition holds, then do this. Anything on a lighter background, such as radius, is a parameter you set in the Flow. Every condition also exists in its negative form, which Homey flips with one click.

What's new

  1. Version 1.0.3

Saint du jour 1.0.3 brings a more reliable name-day check, steadier readings and a refreshed widget.

    • The condition card “Today is the feast of …” now compares whole first names: “Anne” no longer matches “Jeanne”, and “Marc” no longer matches “Marcellin”.
    • After an internet or service outage, the daily reading and the evening-before announcement (“A watched name is celebrated tomorrow”) resume by themselves, without restarting the app.
    • The widget refreshes on its own, so a tile left open past midnight moves to the new day.
    • The widget follows your Homey's language: the date reads “October 22” in English, “22. Oktober” in German.
    • The widget fills the whole tile and offers five backgrounds: deep blue, slate, plum, forest and sand.
    • It uses a common layout: date, saint in large type, the first names celebrated today, then the names you watch and tomorrow's saint.

Edit a dashboard, add a widget and choose Saint du jour, then Saint of the day. Pick a background in the widget settings; the names you want to watch are set in the device settings.
