Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a book?

Scan the barcode on the back: the ISBN is enough, and the catalogues of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, Open Library and Google Books supply the title, authors, publisher, year, page count and cover. A book without a barcode can be typed in by hand, and a list of ISBNs can be pasted from a spreadsheet.

Are my books backed up?

Yes, without you having to think about it. Legenda writes a full copy of your library every day, and always before any irreversible operation. On first launch you choose where those copies go: on the device, or in a folder you pick — iCloud Drive, the disk, an external volume.

I deleted a book by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes, for thirty days, from Settings › Trash. The book comes back with its location, its tags and its photos. Note that this trash belongs only to the device where the deletion happened.

Does the app work without an Internet connection?

Yes. Everything works offline: browsing, loans, readings, notes, and even the “At the bookshop” verdict for books already in your library. The Internet is only needed to look up a book you don't own yet, and for iCloud sync.

Does Legenda cost anything?

No. Version 1 is free and complete: no in-app purchases, no locked features.
